Cardamom – Reimagining Reusables

Simple. Secure. Transparent reusable.

The Cardamom project is developing a digital platform for the intelligent management of returnable packaging logistics in the drinks industry. In collaboration with partners in the Bevergreen consortium, a solution is being developed that enables companies to share data on returnable packaging pools efficiently and make logistics processes more transparent. This means that decisions can no longer be based solely on estimates, but on up-to-date, data-driven information.

Why is cardamom so special?

  • Secure data room: Companies retain full control over their data and can decide for themselves which information to share with which partners.
  • Real-time transparency: Automated synchronisation of stock movements and inventory levels – across the entire organisation and in compliance with the GDPR.
  • AI-powered forecasts, e.g. from PREDECY, and simulation methods: early detection of bottlenecks, return patterns and seasonal fluctuations, as well as simulation methods to model and understand unrecorded flows, are to be integrated.
  • Platform independence: Easy integration into existing ERP and logistics systems via standardised interfaces (REST APIs), which, incidentally, we are also implementing in this project using GENERICY.
  • Sustainability and efficiency: fewer losses of empty containers, better pool management, lower transport costs.
